What fundraiser can you do?
Here are some fundraising ideas to get your creativity flowing, and inspire people to contribute to your campaign.
Participate in a sports event as a Superhero
Pick an event – any event – and pester everyone you know for donations in support of your mission to be a Superhero. When you attend the event dressed in your Superhero gear, you’re likely to collect even more money for the cause.
No treats challenge
Ask all your friends, family and colleagues to give up their weekly treats (chocolates, sweets, cookies, doughnuts or whatever their indulgence) and donate the money they would have spent to your Superhero campaign. You’ll need to give it up too, of course!
Pledge your birthday
A birthday pledge is a great way to celebrate your special day. . Get your friends and family to make a life-saving donation in lieu of buying you a gift.
Be a sofa Superhero
Not all Superheroes run marathons. If the thought of exercise leaves you short of breath, then you can be a Superhero from the comfort of your coach. You can grow a crazy moustache/beard, dye your hair blue or grow it into an Afro. You don’t have to participate in a sporting event to do something amazing for our babies!
Accept dares in return for money
How many boiled eggs can you eat in five minutes? Can you grow a horseshoe moustache or do a death-defying bungee jump? The more outrageous the dare, the more money you’re sure to attract.
Get corporates involved
Get your company (or other companies) to donate – they will qualify for tax exemptions and get points for their BEE scorecard. Use our Corporate Sponsors Letter to appeal to their warm-and-fuzzies.
Raffles
Find something – anything – and raffle it.
Sponsor forms
Get friends to donate money for every kilometre that you ride/run/swim/walk. Or for every hour that you dance/drink/eat. This sample sponsor form will get you going.
Organise a social event
Get your friends, neighbours or colleagues together and organise a:
• Spinathon
• Tea party
• Fashion show
• Car boot sale
• Movie night
• Concert
• Musical evening
• Murder mystery night
• Or whatever outrageous event you can come up with!
You can also buy a few Door of Hope T-shirts for your event.
