How do I go about adopting a baby from Door of Hope?
We don’t do our own adoptions we work through Abba Adoption Agency in Pretoria. They handle the entire process. www.abbaadoptions.co.za
Where do most of your babies come from?
Government hospitals and clinics, mothers, the Police and lastly the baby bin.
Where do you get your funding?
We are a faith based organisation and rely on God to touch people’s hearts. We now also receive funding from the Department of Social Development.
How many babies come through the Baby Bin?
Only about 11% come via the Baby Bin.
Do you look after the babies until they reach 18yrs?
Not at the moment, our focus is to get them ‘Forever Families’. We are however going to be starting a Children’s Village for those children who are classified as ‘unadoptable’. We will then look after these children long-term.
How many babies can you care for at any one time?
We have 3 baby houses and are legally allowed to have 119 babies at a time in our care. On average we look after up to 66 babies at a time.
Have you put up more Baby Bins?
No, not yet but we have assisted other peoples and groups to do so.
How can I get involved and help?
You can become a local/international volunteer. You can donate goods (Nan, nappies, wet-wipes etc), you can also help financially. Why not get your company involved or start your own fundraising campaign for us. Click here to see our fundraising page.
